A Bed Time Routine

I’ve been having a hard time coming to this space lately. I’ve just been feeling a little blah and uninspired. But I wanted to pop by today and talk about bed time routines. Us mommas have all heard how important it is to have a bed time routine, and I completely agree! But I do have to say, I am terrible at keeping it, well, routine! Ha. A lot of it has to do with the fact that Kyle often works late, and so it’s up to me to put both kids to bed. And by the end of the day, I’m just tired!

But in a perfect world, here’s what our bed time routine looks like.

Bed Time Routine

First up, bath time.

Now we’re not parents who bathe their kids every night. We generally try to bathe them 2x a week, but if it is a bath night then that’s obviously the first step to our routine. We play, wash, and enjoy bubbles together 😉

Next, brushing teeth and clipping nails.

If it’s a bath night, we take them right out of the tub, wrap them in a towel, and cut their nails and let them brush their teeth. If it’s not, then brushing teeth is generally our first step!

Then, it’s time for clean diapers and jammies.

If my kiddos have diaper rashes, I always put on Desitin Rapid Relief during this step. I love that it’s gentle enough to use at every change, and that it helps prevent diaper rash, too, not just treat it.

Bed Time Routine

Next, milk, scriptures, and prayers.

Pretty self-explanatory! The kids drink some milk while we read the scriptures, and then we say our nighttime prayers.

Finally, bed!

Generally, we put Eliza to bed first, and then Abe goes down right after. They both get a song as we’re walking out of the room, and they’re both really good about (usually) going right down without any fuss.

And there you have it! That’s our bed time routine. I’d love to hear what yours is, so drop a comment below 🙂
