What I Read July 2016

Another what I read post? Why, yes, here we are. IN AUGUST. I mean really. The year is practically over. I hope you enjoy reading about the books I read in July! Let me know if you’ve read any of them by dropping me a comment below 🙂

Raven Queen by Pauline Francis

3 stars. This was a good, quick read about the Lady Jane Grey. It was interesting to learn a bit more about her (although it is a fictionalize account). Geared towards middle and high schoolers, I read this in one day.

The Blemished by Sarah Dalton

3 stars. I bought this book a while back for free on my Kindle, and decided to give it a read while we were at Lake Tahoe. It’s a YA dystopian series, about a world where cloning and designer babies is all the rage. Those that aren’t designer babies, are tested and if they carry bad genes (pre-disposition to illnesses, etc) they are marked at the Blemished, treated as servants, and the girls get what is essentially a hysterectomy when they turn 16. The story line was interesting enough, so if you think it sounds interesting, pick it up. It wasn’t the best book ever, but it was fine.

*The Sisterhood by Bobbie Houston

2 stars. I didn’t love this book. I’m not too familiar with Bobbie Houston and Hillsong Church, and I was expecting more of inspirational type book. Not that this wasn’t inspirational, it was, but it was a huge re-telling of Bobbie and her Colour conference, which didn’t particularly interest me. However, if you attend Hillsong Church and/or Bobbie’s conferences, you’ll probably enjoy it! It just wasn’t for me.

Daddy’s Gone A-Hunting by Mary Higgins Clark

3 stars. This book is actually one Kyle and I listened to in the car on the way to and from Lake Tahoe. It was a pretty typical MHC book, not my favorite, but interesting enough. (My favorites of hers, if you’re interested, are Where Are The Children?, Remember Me, and The Anastasia Syndrome and Other Stories.)

And in case you’re wondering… I’m currently reading Successful Moms of The Bible. I’m excited to share it with you next month!
