What I Read | September 2015

Another month, a few more books! September was kind of a breather month after all the books I read in August. But it was still good. Let me know if you’ve read any of these books! I feel like the first two have kind of been going around the blogger circuit lately, so I’d love to hear what you thought of them!

You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz
2 stars. This book was SO SLOW. It’s over 400 pages and I promise you the plot is probably about 100 pages. The rest is just insane details. Of things not relevant to the plot, at all. While the premise was interesting, and I kept reading because I wanted to know how it ended, it just dragged on and on and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight
4 stars. I really enjoyed this book. It’s a mix of YA/adult drama, mystery, and parts of it could be likened to a thriller. I couldn’t put this book down, and I love the construct of it — that we found out what happened at the beginning of the novel, and then the rest was past and present intertwined in order for us to figure out just what happened and “whodunit”. I definitely recommend it.

The Beauty of Grace edited by Dawn Camp
4 stars. See full review here
