Body and Soul {A Book Review}

via

You know from my past posts that I’ve been working on getting fit. And not just working out, but really eating better and drinking more water. That’s why when Family Christian sent me this book to review, I was so excited. Most of you have heard of Bethany Hamilton, the surfer who lost her arm to a shark when she was 13. A movie was made of her story a while back, and she’s currently competing on the Amazing Race with her husband (season finale this week! I hope they win!). Anyway, Body and Soul is a book written by her and her personal trainer, and talks about the best ways to take care of not only your body, but your soul, too. The book is littered with inspirational stories and quotes from the Bible, as well as exercises and recipes for healthy living and eating.

Even though it’s technically targeted for pre-teen and teen girls, I loved this book,  and I think that any one who is trying to better their lifestyle would benefit from it. But I would definitely recommend that parents and grand-parents should gift this to their daughters and grand-daughters — the way Bethany writes is so relate-able and positive, and I think that she will really resonate with the teen age group. One particular feature of the book I loved is the “perfect plan” chapter at the back. In it Bethany plans for you a whole week of exercises, meals and snacks — taken from the exercise and chapters that you’ve already read. Now you don’t have an excuse that you don’t know what to do or eat 😉 Doesn’t that sounds great? Definitely check this book out — you won’t be disappointed.
