Easy Shepherd’s Pie

shepherd's pie recipe

My mom is from England, and as such I grew up eating Shepherd’s Pie pretty regularly. However, I never tried my hand at making it until this year. I searched and found a pretty basic recipe that I could use as a base and then tweaked and changed it to my liking. And below is what the final recipe is. Although I hardly ever measure, so I guessed at a few of them, but don’t worry, they are pretty close 🙂
Easy Shepherd’s Pie
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef or turkey
6 oz (about 1/2 bag) of frozen corn
6 oz (about 1/2 bag) of frozen peas/carrots
1 tablespoon of ketchup or tomato paste
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
garlic salt to taste
12 servings of instant mashed potatoes, prepared
1/4 c cheddar cheese
Brown meat in a skillet. Once cooked, add ketchup/tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Add more to taste. Add garlic salt to taste. Mix in frozen veggies. Place in casserole dish. Layer prepared potatoes on top. Sprinkle cheese on top. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees, until warmed through and cheese is melted. Kyle and I might be a little strange — but we love serving ours with a healthy dose of ranch.
