Books I Read | March 2015

March was a doozy for me, and so I only got 3 books read. The shame! 😉

The Glass Castle by Jeannette Wells
2 stars. I hated this book. I know so many people love it, but I did not. I think it’s because there was not really any closure, or closing message. If you don’t know — The Glass Castle is a memoir of a pretty crazy (ahem, abusive) childhood and tells how the author and her siblings all “got out” in one way or another. But the book just ends. There’s no “here’s how it made me a better person” or “here’s what I had to do to overcome”. It just happens and then it ends. Ugh.

The Expats by Chris Pavone
3 stars. This was fine. It wasn’t the most exciting book I’ve ever read, nor was it the worst. It was just mediocre.

Women Are Scary by Melanie Dale*
3 stars. This book was pretty hysterical. Melanie goes over the “bases” of friendships with other mommies and is pretty spot on. I love the humor she uses throughout the whole book. If you’re searching for a laugh, while still giving you tips and hints on how to get out there and make friends amidst the chaos of school and play groups, this is for you.

I want to know, have you read any of these books? What were your thoughts? Oh, and ps, I updated my February reads with my thoughts on Leaving Time, so check it out if you want!

*I received this book from Family Christian in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
