LDS Faith and Beliefs | Jesus Christ

Today’s post isn’t so much about specific LDS beliefs on Christ, but about my own personal relationship with him. However, since I have always been a member of the Church, LDS beliefs are part of my own beliefs, so it seemed fitting I use the platform of this series as I talk about Christ with you.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to go to a Stake Women’s Conference, centered around Jesus Christ. It was a wonderful meeting, And I left feeling so uplifted and grateful for our Savior. Then about two weeks later, I went to Church alone, since Abe and Kyle were both sick. In sacrament meeting, a talk was given all about the last 24 hours of Christ’s life — His Atonement and Death. As I didn’t have a toddler to attend to, I was really able to listen and feel the Spirit, and again, I was so touched and humbled by this great sacrifice.

Christ is our brother. Christ can be our best friend. Christ is our Savior.

He literally took upon Himself the sins of the worlds – those who had been, those who were, and those yet to come. He sweat drops of blood as He went through this agony for us (Luke 22:44 KJV). But that was not the end, my friends. He was then betrayed by one of His closest friends, He was beaten and scourged, He was made to carry a large wooden beam to the place where He would die, and He was then nailed to a cross, and left to hang and die. Can you imagine the pain? The agony? I can not. I can not fathom what He went through. But I know it was for me. Because He loves me. It was for you, because He loves you. It was for all of us, because we are His family.

Indeed, “greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13 KJV).  I am in awe and I truly stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me. This wonderful, sinless, perfect man – God – gave His life for me. He suffered — for me! And His Father, my Father, let it happen. Because as much as He loved and loves His perfect son, He loves all of His children. All of us. Even though we may be broken and flawed and full of sin, HE LOVES US

I know God lives. I know Christ lives. I believe in Grace and Mercy and Love.

And although I am weak and ashamed that part of the agony He went through was caused by my sins, my mistakes, I will strive to be better. I will strive to be a true disciple of Christ. I will boast of my God, and the great miracles He has done. I will glory in Him. I will remember Him in all I do.

I will not let His sacrifice be in vain.

To close, I’d like to share with you a few of my favorite songs about Christ. I hope you’ll take the chance to listen to them. (There are, of course, many more than these (I recommend any by Kenneth Cope) but these are the ones that have been on my mind recently.)
