What I Read May 2016

I love sharing what I read with you every month, mostly because I’m a huge book nerd! I also love reading what others read, so please share some of your favorite and/or recent reads in the comments! And let me know if you’ve read any of these and what you thought about them. I love talking books 🙂

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

4 stars. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book… I only knew that lots of people recommended it, and it sounded interesting, so I picked it up. And I LOVED it. It was magical and different and fascinating and just plain good. I’m a big fan of the movies The Prestige and The Illusionists, and this book reminded me of them, in a way. I highly recommend it.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

4 stars. Another great book by this author. She just writes quality adult fiction, with a twist. I enjoyed BLL more than The Husband’s Secret, and I’m excited to get my hands on her other books sometime soon!

The Continuous Conversion by Brad Wilcox

4 stars. This was a really good read about what it means to be converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and how we can be continually converted, over and over and over again. It’s geared towards members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I think all members should read it at one point, especially those who aren’t sure how to answer those questions asked of us by non-members, or if you’re feeling overwhelmed with “being a Mormon”.

The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy E. Reichert

3 stars. To be honest, I was hesitant about reading this book. So many people had given it amazing reviews, but they had likened it to chick flicks like You’ve Got Mail… And I have to admit, those kind of chick flicks are my least favorite. They give me wayyyy too much anxiety. But I ended up winning a copy from Kelly, so I had it hanging around and knew I had to read it. And I was pleasantly surprised! The plot itself is not new, but the story surrounding it is, and the characters were very likable. All in all, a solid read.

I’m currently in the middle of For The Glory, and next in the line up is Eleanor. I’m excited to review those for you next month! Books, books, books. They’re just the best.
