September was a good month for books! I had been working on reading all the unread books that I own, but I decided to stop by the library and get a few lot of books that I’ve been wanting to read for a while now, and so I did. And I don’t regret it 🙂 I do have a question for all of you though — would you like me to start including a summary from Goodreads of each book I read so you get to know a little more of what the book is about? Let me know in the comments! And enjoy reading about what I read last month.

Then Sings My Soul by Amy K. Sorrells

4 stars. This was the second book I’ve read by the author, and I really enjoyed it. Sorrells is a Christian author and writes such a beautiful story while weaving in beautiful Gospel themes of love and redemption and grace. Her books are just so real. I would definitely pick this one up if you enjoy fiction with underlying Christian themes.

The Catcher in The Rye by JD Salinger

3 stars. See full review here.

Where They Found Her by Kimberly McCreight

4 stars. Oh, I loved this book. It had some twists and turns, and it kept me guessing. If you like mysteries and thrillers, pick this one up. (Just as a side note I really enjoyed the author’s other novel Reconstructing Amelia, but I liked this one even more.) Just a note, though, this book deals with stillborn infant loss, so if that’s a trigger to you, you might want to skip reading this one.

The Dinner by Herman Koch

3 stars. What even is this book? I was enthralled by the way the author told the story. I’m not sure I loved this book, but it definitely kept my attention and was intriguing. If the premise sounds interesting to you, give it a try. And let me know what you think.

The Tea Planter’s Wife by Dinah Jefferies

4 stars. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, as period dramas can be a little stuffy sometimes, but I really enjoyed this one. There was mystery and romance and the backstory was so interesting to me. It reminded me a bit of Jane Eyre, but written in a more modern style. I would definitely recommend it.

Currently reading: Glory Over Everything (and still working on Fervent, as I’m taking my time with that book).

Currently on my bookshelf: What Alice Forgot, In The Unlikely Event, and The Silent Sister.
