Well, once again I’m almost a month late on this update, oops! I cannot believe my Liza-Bee will be 10 months in about 10 days. That is a mere 2 months away from her first birthday. What a wild, crazy, awesome 10 months it’s been.

Likes: Eating all the solids, always. Cruising and climbing on everything. Playing with her brother. Talking and screaming.

Dislikes: Sleeping through the night, ha (see below). Falling down.

Nicknames: Ellie is her main one but we also call her Liza, Liza-Bee, Liza Lynn, Ella-Bee, Ellie-Bee and Ellie-Bellie.

Sleep Habits: Ugh. UGH. Abe was the best sleeper and Eliza is…. not. She’s still waking up 2-4 times a night and it is killing me. We’ve done a tiny bit of cry it out with her, but our summer has been so busy we haven’t really had time to devote to it. We’re actually planning on getting down to business and doing it this weekend, so wish us luck. We think she really just wakes up and wants to eat out of habit, so what we need to do is break the habit. Other than that, she generally takes two naps a day, which is great. I generally try to put her down between 11:30-12:30 (depending on when she woke up) so that her nap overlaps with Abe’s, and she’ll sleep about 2 hours or so. Then she usually goes down around 4 for a shorter nap.

Eating Habits: I mentioned in her likes, she loves eating solids. Girlfriend despises any sort of baby food purees (even the kind with chunks in it) but will eat either small pieces of what we’re eating, or what we’re eating ground up. She does love baby oatmeal though. As far as a feeding schedule goes, she usually has a bowl of oatmeal when she wakes up, drinks 4 ounces an hour or two later (and then will go down for a nap). She’ll have another 4 ounce bottle sometime after she wakes up, eats dinner with us, and then have another 4-6 ounces in the hour or so before bed. There might be another bottle snuck in there sometime, too, just depending. I’ve always fed on demand, so if we go out somewhere I make sure to have bottle fixings with me, in case she decides she needs to eat.

Other Facts and Milestones: She got her bottom two teeth around 8 months, and her top two will probably pop through any any day now. For the longest time she was doing the most hilarious crawl/scoot thing where she would pull her body forward on her arms and then just belly flop down. But then about 3 or so weeks ago she figured out how to crawl for real and also pull herself up on things. She’s constantly moving and exploring our house, and it’s not uncommon to find her in the most random places (like the drawer under the oven!). She also will “sing”  and bob her head along with music, which is just the cutest thing.

She is just a lot of fun these days! She is such a smiley baby, always giving us cheesy grins. She loves to follow her brother around the house and try to do what he’s doing. And Abe is usually ok with it (until he’s not, then he freaks out). Seriously, I say this every time, to everyone, but the best thing about having kids 19 months apart is watching them interact with each other. It’s the very best.

We’re so happy to have Eliza in our family. We love being a family of four.
