My Best Friend’s Wedding

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll already know that a couple of weekends ago I drove down to Utah for my best friend’s wedding, but we always need a little more detail than Instagram gives us, right? So I’m here today to document the day and share some pictures.

First, a little history: Ayisha and I met the first day of seventh grade, thanks to a couple mutual friends, and have been besties ever since. We’ve survived multiple moves, multiple heart-breaks, not to mention going through junior high and high school together, ha! (And obviously college, too.) She’s driven and flown to visit me while I’ve lived far away. When we’re together it’s like no time at all has passed, and she just gets me, you know? We’ve been through so much together, and I’m so happy that she found Collin.

So, on Wednesday morning I drove down to my mom’s house, and after spending a few hours there, drove to Ayisha’s Indian Engagement Party. Ayisha’s mom is from India, and to celebrate weddings they throw an awesome party, complete with Indian food and Indian dancing and Indian well-wishing and Indian clothing. It’s just the best! Kyle and I went to Kavita’s (Ayisha’s older sister) a few years ago, and I was super stoked for Ish’s! It was so much fun to finally meet Collin in person, and to see so many of my good friends from high school. It was such a great time, although I missed Kyle! He had to work, so he wasn’t able to come down until Friday.

Thursday, I spent with my mom and kids. It was so fun to spend time with her, since we don’t get to very often. Abe and Eliza love their Nana!

Friday I left my mom’s in the morning, and headed over to Ayisha’s hotel with a few of the other bridesmaids to get ready for the big day. We did our makeup, had our hair done, and just spent a couple of hours chatting together before it was time for Ish to leave for the Temple.

I had an hour or so to kill, so I grabbed lunch with my other bestie Dani. I’m kicking myself for not getting a picture with her! Then I drove to the Temple. It was SO windy! While waiting for Ayisha and Collin to get ready and come out, we were all about blown away! It was one of those things that’s a little annoying, but created some fun memories 🙂 I can’t wait to see all of her wedding photos!

After we took pictures outside the Temple, I hopped in my car to drive the 30 minutes to their luncheon and reception venue. (If you’re in Utah County, I highly recommend Stone Gate! And fun fact: it’s a renovated LDS church building, and it’s where I went to church when I was a toddler!) Like I mentioned above, Kyle wasn’t able to come down until Friday, but he took a half-day, so he met me at the venue just in time for the luncheon. We had a delicious lunch, and enjoyed some tear-inducing toasts. Between the luncheon and the reception, we hung out with my good friend from high school Casey and his wife Katy. We grabbed some Dirty Diet Cokes chatted, and nabbed a few things for decorating the car.

Isn’t she beautiful? Her dress was stunning! And our bridesmaid dresses were so cute and comfy!

We had a fun time at the reception, eating some more delicious food, decorating the car, and dancing the night away with our closest friends. It was everything a reception should be. One of the best I’ve been to!

I love Ayisha so, so much, and am so glad she’s found her special someone. It was a beautiful and fun day – my best friend’s wedding.
