Blogtober 2014 // My Biggest Fear

I haven’t linked up for any Blogtober posts, but I thought I’d like to do at least a few.
Today’s prompt was to write about your biggest fear. I have a few “smaller” fears such as tornadoes, water, spiders, etc. But I suppose my biggest fear is being alone. Not just being alone for a few hours or days, but alone in life without a partner. Specifically Kyle. You hear stories about husbands or fiances dying and it just breaks my heart. I really am not sure how I would handle it. I don’t think about it too often, but it crosses my mind every once in a while and kind of freaks me out. So there. That is my biggest fear.

And while we’re on the subject of fears… Here’s one of my favorite quotes.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

Have you heard this quote before? What do you think about it? I love that it talks about how we have the glory of God within us. As children of God, we are destined for great things! We should not be afraid to use our talents, we should not be afraid to put ourselves out there. We are talented, we are gifted. And as we use our talents and gifts, we give others permission to do the same. What a wonderful world we would live in if we all cultivated and used our talents for good. Good being the key word. I hope we can identify our talents, cultivate them, and use them to help others do the same.
