Table // Truffles // GG // Moving

DREAMING | About the house we *might* buy this year. We’re really hoping we can do this! Kyle and I both would rather buy an older and cheaper home, update it a bit, and have more money in the long run for family vacations. So right now I’ve been looking and “dreaming” about different ways to update homes πŸ™‚ First on the list is to update our current kitchen table and chairs. Something similar to the picture above.

PLANNING | Our big move! Yes, that’s right, we’re moving! I haven’t officially announced it on the blog yet (although I’ve alluded to it) but I thought I’d take the opportunity of this currently post to make it official. We’ll be moving back to Pocatello (Idaho) the first week of July and we are really excited. I’ll post more details below! But suffice it to say, I’m already making lists upon lists of things we need to do and get done before we go.

We’re also planning a few fun trips in the meantime, before we move away from the northern half of the state! We’re headed to Seattle, WA and Victoria, BC in just 3 short weeks! I’ll be meeting up with some PNW bloggers one night, and the rest of the time we’ll be celebrating our 5th anniversary (a little early). We’re also going camping up at Priest Lake in June.

Oh, and I’m also planning Kyle and Abe’s birthday party! Can you believe our little guy is turning ONE this month? Neither can I. I’m definitely not a crazy “pinterest-perfect” party type of gal, but I’m still turning to pinterest for a couple of things. I’m so excited! We’re also getting Abe’s 1 year photos and family photos done in a couple of week, hooray!

MAKING | Nothing right now, although soon I will probably be working on making a banner for Abe’s birthday, plus his cake. And I want to make the above pictured mint oreo truffles for St. Patrick’s Day!

BAKING | Nothing. And that’s a good thing!. A couple of weeks ago I was really craving brownies. 3 batches later… And, well, I don’t need brownies for a long time. And I definitely do not need to be baking anything!

WATCHING | Guys, I am still watching Gilmore Girls. This is the show that never ends! I’m on season 6 though, so I’m hoping I can finish this month. I have a whole slew of shows lined up to watch, but I feel like I really need to finish GG first! Kyle and I are still watching Criminal Minds together… Oh, that Dr. Reid. Seriously, he kills us in every episode, we think he’s so funny.

And now, a little more about our move. Kyle and I lived in Pocatello while Kyle was going to grad school at ISU, and we loved it. We really thought we would stay there forever, but long story (literally) short, we ended up in northern Idaho. We love it here too! And we thought that we would be here at least 5 years, and were even looking at houses to buy. But…. Well… Plan’s change. Here’s a little background info on Kyle’s job — he is the Parenting with Love and Limits clinician for the State of Idaho’s Department of Health and Welfare, and works under the Children’s Mental Health division for Region 1 (based in Coeur d’Alene). When he found out in January that the PLL clinician for Region 6 (based in Pocatello) was not coming back from maternity leave, we decided that he should interview, just for fun and to see what happened.

Suffice it to say, they really liked him down there, but even when they offered him the job, we weren’t sure we were going to take it. We really like it up, we’ve made friends, it’s a beautiful area, plus Kyle really likes his current supervisor and co-workers (and we all know that’s half the battle when it comes to jobs!). So after talking and praying about it, as well as listing pros and cons, we ultimately decided he should decline and stay where he’s at. But within the next few days (he hadn’t officially declined yet) a slew of events happened that really made it seem like Pocatello was the right decision for us, despite our initial reaction. (For example, his supervisor has since taken another job and moved out of town.) We really believe that “when [we] are living righteously and are acting with trust, God will not let [us] proceed too far without a warning impression if [we] have made the wrong decision.” (Quote from this talk.) We both really feel (and know!) that it was God’s guidance — we had made our decision, but upon moving forward with that decision, more things came to light and we felt that they were God’s way of saying, ‘actually that was the wrong decision, let me guide you to the right one.’ It’s one more chapter in the book of God’s hand in our lives πŸ™‚

Phew, that got long, sorry about that! And so! We’ll be moving the first week of July, and we are excited about it! We will be closer to home (3 hour drive instead of 12!), we already know the area, and hopefully in a few years Kyle can apply to the PhD program at ISU and get accepted and we’ll already by there.

By-the-by, linking up with Anne and Jenna today.
