Top 6 Must Haves for Pregnancy

In the spirit of all things pregnancy I thought I’d put together a revision of this post and share with you my pregnancy must-haves, again, now that I’ve been through two pregnancies.

must haves for pregnancy

1 | Vitamin B6 and Unisom.
This combination is what is in the anti-nausea medication Diclegis and most doctors will probably ask you to try doing this combination first before giving you a prescription. You just want to make sure that the form of Unisom you’re getting is doxylamine succinate. Ask your doctor about dosage, but for me, I took one Vitamin B6 pill along with half a Unisom at night before going to bed.

2 | Pillows.
I have a Snoogle Mini but honestly, if you don’t want to drop the money for a pregnancy pillow, just get a body pillow (or two). Or you can just use regular pillows! Having a pillow between your legs while sleeping really helps with hip pain, and as you get better it’s nice to have support under your belly and/or behind your back, too. It will help you sleep better due to pain.  (It won’t help much with pregnancy insomnia though…. Sorry!)

3 | Maternity Clothes.
Some women hate wearing and buying maternity clothes. I am not one of those women. I embrace them as early as… Well, as early as my positive pregnancy test. They are so much more comfortable, and help show off your bump, too! And it’s not just clothes — I’m talking about underwear, too. My breasts basically, um, triple in size when I’m pregnant, so I bought a nursing bra in my new size that got me through pregnancy and nursing. I really like Motherhood Maternity’s bras as well as Gilligan and O’Malley ones at Target. (If you’re LDS and would like my recommendations on what to wear garment wise, feel free to email me!) (Some favorite shops are Old Navy, Ross, Target, H&M, and Pink Blush Maternity.) (I have these jeans and LOVE THEM.)

4 | Cute Water Bottle or Reusable Cup.
Not only is water super important to drink while pregnant, but I am a water chugger while pregnant! I love having a water bottle or reusable cup close by me at all times to remind me to drink water, or just to have it close so I don’t have to get up to refill a glass every time I want a drink. Plus, doesn’t water just taste better in cute containers? The answer is yes. I love this basic one for carrying around the house.

5 | Snacks.
Of course, this will vary person by person, but I think it’s important to find snacks that you enjoy. I go through phases when I’m pregnant. One week I might love granola bars, and another week it might be greek yogurt. But either way, find something that works for you. (A couple of my favorites, especially in the first trimester were mints and smoothies. Not together, obviously.)

6 | Pantiliners.
This is one of those things that no one probably warns you about. And maybe not everyone has to suffer through this like I did…. But between bladder leakage and discharge, I’ve gotta wear these puppies my whole pregnancy. (These are my fave.)

So there you have it, my top 6 must haves for pregnancy. What about you? Do you think these are must haves? Do you have any to add? Let me know below!
