What’s In A Name | Harold Abraham

Abe 3 Months

Harold Abraham2

In November I shared the meaning behind Eliza’s name, and today I’m excited to do the same about Abe’s! Like I’ve mentioned before, I absolutely LOVE hearing about why people choose the names they do, and I love talking about the names we’ve chosen for our little ones! (We have one other boy name and one other girl name picked out… So hopefully we’ll have one more of each and we’ll be set! Haha.)

Harold2

Harold is a family name on Kyle’s side. It’s his dad’s, grandpa’s, and great-grandpa’s first name, and only great-grandpa went by it, the other two went/go by their middle name. Kyle’s dad didn’t carry on the tradition with his boys, but Kyle has always wanted to. In fact, I knew that about Kyle before we even started dating! So we knew, even before we had any kids that our first son would have the first name of Harold, but that he’d be called by his middle name.

Abraham

Abraham is simply a name we both like. But we can’t discount the fact that there are some great Abrahams both in Biblical and American history. Kyle and I both especially like Abraham Lincoln. When I was pregnant with Abe, we had a couple names we were throwing around for him. When I was about 22 weeks along, we went to Disneyland, and as we were watching Great Moments with Abraham Lincoln, I heard a quote that really hit me, and it is this, “With God’s help I shall not fail.” Abraham Lincoln was referring to his work abolishing slavery and uniting the country, but I loved that quote, as it can apply to our lives in general. That’s when I knew I really wanted to name the babe I was carrying Abraham, but we still went to the hospital with both names in mind, just in case. But he came out, and was an Abraham, and I think he’s the cutest little Abe ever. I love his name, SO much. I love how it sounds, how it looks, and just how it fits him. (PS, that quote by Abe Lincoln is hanging in Abe’s room!)

So there you have it, the meaning behind Abe’s name!

If you haven’t yet – please share the meaning behind your child(ren)’s names! I’d love to hear them.
