I was recently emailed by Kiana, asking me if I’d like to participate in her Mommy Style Monday collaboration, and of course I said, “heck yes!”. The goal of this collab is to share our different “mommy styles”, whether that be our wardrobes, our parenting styles, etc! Kiana and Madeline come up with a fun prompt each time to get our juices flowing, and we all come together to share our thoughts about it. Today we’re chatting all about toys, because it’s always fun to see what other moms and kids are playing with, to get more ideas of fun things to do with our own kids.

Current Favorite Toys

Reading is a favorite activity here in our house, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to any of you if you’ve read my blog for long. I recently received my Usborne new consultant kit, plus the free books from my kick-off party, so we’ve had lots of fun with our new reading material. Abe is especially love this book about construction sites (1) and this fun book about a book monster (2), too!

Toy-wise, we are big fans of blocks at this house. We have a set of soft blocks (4) and a set of hard blocks (3) (similar, less-expensive set here), and both get played with every day. Two more toys Abe loves, that I forgot to add into the graphic, are this stacking train and his shopping cart. He will literally pile in all the toys he can fit into the cart and push it around and around and around our house. It’s pretty hilarious to watch!

Anddd of course Eliza is at the age where everything goes in her mouth, so she is currently enjoying chewing on our remotes and wipes packages. Oh, babies. What are we going to do with them? 😉

Edit: I’m back again, to add in a little about my mommy style when it comes to toys – since I didn’t really talk about it and I’d like to share it with you. Kyle and I are all about getting our kids sturdy and educational toys. I believe you can never have too many books, and we try to limit the toys we bring into our home. We invest in toys like you see above: blocks, stacking toys, a few stuffed animals, sorting toys, cars and trucks, balls, and we have a lot of toy tools, too (duh, we have a little boy). We have some outdoor toys, too, which Abe loves. We do have a few noisy toys, but try to limit the time our kids spend with them, and to be honest, they gravitate to the other types of toys, anyway. I try to go through our toys often, to make sure we’re not collecting all those weird, plastic toys (party favors and the like). Anyway, so there you go, just a bit about our toy “philosophy”, in case you were wondering 🙂

Be sure to check out these other mommas and see what their mommy style is like!
