Abe Is 3

Abe

Height: 37 inches (34 %tile)
Weight: 30 pounds (29 %tile)

Abe turned 3 on March 26th, and I just haven’t been able to put into words how I feel, hence the late post. Because this little guy, well, he’s just my everything. (Ok, along with his daddy and sister.)  But really — 3.Years.Old. Wasn’t it just yesterday he burst onto the scene 3 weeks early and was my tiny 6 pound baby? As I write this he’s shooting me silly grins from across the table as he eats his oatmeal and I feel like my heart could just burst. There are truly no words to describe how much I love this sweet, silly boy.

Abe currently loves: sharks & whales (and most other sea creatures – thanks, Finding Dory), trains, cars, plans, helicopters & all other things that go, dinosaurs (this one is quite new and also quite hilarious), and reading books while snuggling. He rotates through favorite shows and movies pretty frequently. Currently Secret Life of Pets and the Sid the Science Kid Movie are on repeat, along with Sarah & Duck and Rescue Bots. Recent favorites have been Finding Dory and Minions.

Abe

As far as food goes, Abe loves all things oatmeal and granola bars and toast (and all things sweet, of course).

He sings “I Am A Child of God” for Eliza every day when she goes down for naps and goes to bed. He also demands we sing him that same song each night, although asks for the “other” child of god, meaning a different verse. He also occasionally asks for “always” which means “Teach Me To Walk In The Light”.

We potty trained him in April, and honestly he’s done great. The first day he had a million tiny accidents, but slowly progressed to only 2-3, and now most days he keeps his pants dry the whole day! Now we’re trying to encourage him to go poop on the toilet, which is a slightly different beast, but he’s doing ok with that, too.

Seriously, every transition with Abe has been a dream. Sleeping through the night in his crib? He did that at 3 months. Transitioning to a sippy cup? Sure thing. Sleeping in a toddler bed? No problem at all. Gaining a little sister at 19 months? No biggie. Getting rid of his binky? Virtually painless. Potty training? Much, much better than I expected. He’s a gem, you guys. A true gem.

He just started into a question asking phase, and his favorite thing to ask is “what’s that called?” or “what’s that sound?”. He is discovering his world more and more and I just love it.

He is the sweetest, cheesiest, cutest little boy, and we so, so glad and lucky that he is part of our family.
