GBOMB | April 2018

Guys. Woof. April was INSANE. Knowing that baby was due in May, April was kind of our month to do all the things, and boy, did we. We had a fun month, which luckily helped it go by quickly, and now I’m 37 weeks along and looking forward to this baby coming at any time.  Because we were so busy, and just because of how this pregnancy is going in general, blog posts have (obviously) been few and far between. One day I’ll get back into a good routine (maybe? hopefully? ha!) but for now sporadic posts will have to do for all those who still read. I have lots of great ideas for this space, but I’ve also learned that there’s a season for everything, and right now is not the season for me to go full-steam ahead with the blog.

GOOD

My mom came and visited, and it was a lot of fun to see her and my sister. Since she was going to be in town, I was able to plan a surprise overnight date for Kyle and I, which was awesome! A good friend of ours manages the La Quinta here in town, and was not only able to give us a great discount, but upgrade us to the honeymoon suite! We ended up going to dinner at Red Robin, (finally) seeing The Greatest Showman, and then enjoying the Jacuzzi tub in our room before sleeping in the huge, soft king bed. We slept in a little bit, and enjoyed the free breakfast buffet before heading back home. It was a great little getaway for us before the baby comes, and I’m so glad it all worked out. It was especially fun to surprise Kyle with something like that — he sure deserves it!

April

We also spent a weekend down in Utah, the last for quite awhile. I helped throw my bestie Ayisha a baby shower (she’s due in June) and it was great seeing and catching up with that group of girl friends. While I was busy with that, Kyle took the kids to the Tulip Festival and to see the baby animals with my in-laws, and they had a fun time doing that together, of course! We also were able to visit the newly renovated Jordan River Temple, and I think that was a highlight of our trip down for all of us. Our kids are at such a fun age, where they are so curious and excited about learning about Heavenly Father and Jesus, and it was amazing to take them through such a holy space and see them soak in the Spirit that can be felt there.

I’ve also enjoyed a handful of days/nights out with my friends — a fiesta themed late night party for a good friend’s birthday, a day out to see I Feel Pretty and eat some Cafe Rio, a night making freezer meals with 2 of my close friends, and a night out at my new book club. Kyle is stellar at making sure I get breaks from the house and kids, always encouraging me to go to activities, which I appreciate so much. He’s the best guys, for real.

Kyle and I also enjoyed a day date going to the Temple and Chick-Fil-A, and a fun barbecue with friends, celebrating the fact that it has finally warmed up, plus a few other fun activities. Like I said, April was busy!!

BAD

Nothing too bad to report this month. I’ve still had some (physically) sick days, as well as some mentally and emotionally down days as well. I’m going to the doctor every week now, which isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s a little annoying — although I am definitely grateful for good health care!

ON MY BRAIN

Tomorrow is May, hallelujah! Baby will be here in about 3 weeks — hopefully less — and I’m so excited for pregnancy to be over, for labor and delivery to happen, and to kind of move on to the postpartum stage that will give way to a new normal around here. I’m trying to hard to remember that the newborn phase is just about as stagnant as pregnancy can be, although more unpredictable, and that I still won’t be able to get into a good routine for a few months.

Other than that…. Just wondering when s/he will come, what labor will be like this time around, etc., etc. All that good stuff.

And tomorrow…. It’s baby month!
