I’ve been married 7 years now, so while I in no way claim to be an expert on marriage, I do know a few things about making a marriage work. When we got married, Kyle and I decided that divorce was not an option, and never to even be joked about. We made a covenant with each other and with God, and we promised to stay together forever.

That said, no one’s perfect, and both partners are going to make mistakes. There is no such thing as perfect people or a perfect marriage. But it is possible to have a good marriage – even a great one. So, no, our marriage isn’t perfect. We love each other, yes, but we get in disagreements and arguments, and feelings can get hurt. Marriage can be tricky. We’ve gone from being completely independent, to a co-dependent relationship, and figuring out how to navigate that can be hard, and will look different for each couple. Two things you always want to do though are to communicate, and to forgive.

I also think that it’s the small things that you do each day that really make a marriage work. Things like sending little texts throughout the day, surprising your spouse with a candy bar you picked up while grocery shopping, taking care of an errand etc. are ways we really show our love for one another, ways we show them that they are important to us.

This past week I surprised Kyle with a wood watch. I’ve been wanting to get him a new watch for a long time, but knew he would want a quality one, so a wood watch from JORD was just the ticket!
