Testimony Tuesday // Scriptures

Welcome to post number four of the series Testimony Tuesdays, created by Ashley at From A To Z.
Previously, we have written about FaithTemples and the Atonement.

“For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them
and writeth them for the learning and the profit of my children.”

2 Nephi 4:15
As members of the LDS church, we believe that the Bible is the word of God. However, we also believe that The Book of Mormon is the word of God as well. While the Bible focuses on Christ’s teachings to the peoples of the Holy Land, the Book of Mormon contains the teachings and prophecies of prophets in the Americas. This book was found and translated by a young boy, named Joseph Smith. The teachings it contains are similar and compliment the teachings found in the Bible.
I am so grateful for the scriptures in my life. The scriptures provide us with power and guidance as we live day to day on this earth. Elder Richard G Scott said, “Because scriptures are generated from inspired communication through the Holy Ghost, they are pure truth.” And then he stated, “Scriptures are like packets of light that illuminate our minds and give place to guidance and inspiration from on high. They can become the key to open the channel to communion with our Father in Heaven and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ.”
I testify that this is true. By reading the scriptures daily, we will grow closer to Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven, and we will also have the Spirit with us as we go about our day-to-day lives. If you haven’t read them lately, I urge you to pick them up. Whether it be the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or another book of scripture that is special to you. Your burdens will be lifted as you read and communicate with the Lord.
