The Letter Link-Up | The Power of Missing

I’m a little late joining in on this link-up, but I loved the prompt so much, I had to post, anyway.

Kyle and I

Dear Kyle,
We’ve never been ones who couldn’t be apart. I’m not sure if it’s our personalities or our experiences that have made it that way, but it’s true. We’ve spent countless days and nights away from each other, from tending our niece and nephews in California, to graveyard shifts at work, to work trips, to my best friend’s sealing… It’s something we don’t mind doing. We can survive without each other for a night or ten.
But there is something, though, that can be said for reunions. For that rush of emotions that I feel each and every time I see you again. Whether it’s after you get home from a long day at work, or after a week of not seeing each other, the feeling is the same. Joy, elation, relief, safety, the feeling of being home
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and it’s true in some ways, and not in others. For me, my heart doesn’t just grow fonder, it grows in loyalty and excitement and love and my sense of security in you.
I love you, Kyle.
And I will always be excited to see you again.
Love, Britt
