Motherhood Anxiety

There is a lot to be said about anxiety. Anxiety is rampant these days, and while I’m not here to discuss why that is, I do want to talk about how it is a big deal, and that it needs to be talked about. I have many friends who struggle with anxiety and all that comes with it. And not just generalized anxiety, but postpartum anxiety, too.

When a baby is born, a whole new layer of anxiety is born right alongside your babe.

A smidge of worry and anxiety is normal, it’s our response to this new season of our lives. But postpartum anxiety, the anxiety that will disable you, and not let you live your life, is not. When I had my last baby, my nurse went over some things with me before I left the hospital, and one of those was about postpartum depression. But I remember that she said that a lot of moms were manifesting postpartum anxiety these days, instead of depression, and they didn’t realize it was related, or just as dangerous and debilitating. This really struck me as something important that more women needed to be aware of. I’m not a doctor, but if something seems “off”, please go to your doctor and see if it could be PPD or PPA.

Motherhood Anxiety

These days, there are many products out there that can help mommas cope with the anxiety that comes along with motherhood. And one of them is the VTECH VM341-216 Bear 2 Camera Full Color Video Monitor. We recently received one of these and have been loving it. To be honest, I am not one of those mothers that suffers from anxiety, so we’ve never used a video monitor before this. But I can’t deny that it has been nice to have. Eliza’s screaming? Is her leg stuck or is she just doing her normal thing? Check the monitor. Abe woke up in the middle of the night crying? Is he ok or is he sick? Check the monitor. Have a babysitter and your baby is napping? Give her peace of mind by having the monitor ready for her. And best of all, it’s a secure transmission!

There are many, many advantages of having the VTech Bear Video Monitor. One thing I love is that it come with 2 cameras (a teddy bear shaped one, and a standard one) that feature automatic night vision and full color video. You can also add up to 2 more! Perfect for mommas of multiple kids, or ones that want one in another room of the house, like the playroom. You can guess where we placed ours – one in Abe’s room and one in Eliza’s room.

Motherhood Anxiety

If you know a new momma-to-be, the VTech Bear Video Monitor would be a great gift this holiday season. I think it would be an especially thoughtful one for a mom who has experienced some sort of loss before, or maybe has struggled with general anxiety. It’s available at Babies R Us (in-store and online) for your convenience 🙂 So go check it out! I would be most of us know someone who would be overjoyed to open it. The holidays are such an amazing family filled time, and it’s not a time you want to worry about anything, including your baby. So it’s really the perfect time of year to give this as a gift.

If you’re like me, sometimes I like to give an additional little homemade gift alongside a store bought one, so if you’re looking for that perfect DIY gift to give alongside your VTech Bear Video Monitor, I have just the thing to show you today, and it’s sure to be a hit with the new parents.

Motherhood Anxiety

It’s an organizer to hold the endless amounts of paperwork that you receive while you’re pregnant and after! I wish I had thought of this before I had my kiddos. Not only does this organize all your information, but it’s easy to grab and go, in case you want to take it with you to doctor’s appointments.

Supplies Needed:

  • A flexible file folder holder.
  • File folders.
  • File folder labels.

Motherhood Anxiety

There’s just really one step to take – assemble your folders! You can print the labels, if you’d like. I just hand-wrote them. I dressed them up a tiny bit by adding washi tape once I stuck them on the folder.

Motherhood Anxiety

I used the following categories :
Hospital Paperwork
Insurance Records
Health Records
Parenting Info
Feeding Info
Misc.

But you could also use/add these:
Birth Certificate/Social Security Card
Pediatrician Visits
Receipts/Warranties
Manuals
Milestones
Keepsakes

So there you have it! It’s such an easy gift to put together, and so, so useful! I think I might make a couple for my own kids, as well as any future babies that come along 🙂
