Happy Monday and Happy Labor Day! I hope you’re enjoying your day off. I sure enjoy when we get to have an extra family day with Kyle. 3 days weekends are truly the best. I’m back with another Blog-tember prompt today! This was a fun one to write about, and reminisce about as well! 🙂

Today’s Prompt: Share Your Most Memorable Birthday

I have a few birthdays that have been quite memorable, but the one I’m sharing today is my 20th birthday. Kyle and I had been dating for about 2 months, and we had decided a few weeks before that we wanted to get married. When Kyle came to pick me up for lunch that day, he gave me my birthday card, and inside was a little piece of paper that said something to the effect of “redeemable for ring shopping”. I looked at him in shock and he said, and we’re doing that today!

And so, off to lunch we went (to the delicious restaurant Tucanos, a Brazilian steakhouse), followed by ring shopping. It was surreal and wonderful. But wait! The story doesn’t end there, later that evening, after a fun day with Kyle, imagine my surprise when we walked into Kyle’s apartment, and I was greeted by my closest friends! Kyle had planned a surprise party for me, totally without my knowledge. He had even picked up a pinata and baked me a cake. (The first of many, many texas sheet cakes to come — mmmm, so good!)

It was such a wonderful day, all planned out by Kyle. Kyle’s not what you would call a social butterfly by any means, so the fact that he went through the trouble to put all that together really touched me. And in case you were wondering…. The next week we finalized what ring I wanted, and the week after that he proposed! He’s a keeper, that Kyle.
