Abey is Two + Eliza is 5 Months

Seriously, guys. How the heck is Abe 2 (TWO!)?! At times it seems like he’s been around forever, and at other times it seems like he was just born yesterday. Isn’t time a funny thing? And then there’s little miss Ellie. This little lady is officially NOT a newborn anymore. Here’s a little update on the two of them!

ABE

Abe Two Years

33 inches (15th %tile)
25 pounds (16th %tile)

This kid, man. Just in the last 2-3 weeks his vocabulary has EXPLODED. He knows so many words (maybe 50-75?). He is learning his numbers (2 and 5 are the ones he knows, ha, but he also loves to “count” with other… um… sounds) and letters (can identify A, B, G, M, O, S, T, V, and Y), and also loves to talk our ears off (mostly in toddler babble) which I love. He pulls hilarious faces and loves to laugh. He still occasionally uses the signs he knows, too. He thinks his toddler bed is the best thing ever, and sleeps so well. He knows most animal noises and loves to yell them whenever we’re talking about animals. He’s obsessed with closing doors and turning off the TV and lights. He loves to read with us, and color (PTL for Color Wonder markers!) and is all around a delight.

Overall, he’s adjusted to having a younger sibling wonderfully. There are still times when he is whiney or jealous, but mostly, he just loves her. He loves to kiss her, hold her, hug her, and hold her hand. He’s also a great helper and will bring me burp clothes and diapers, and he enjoys trying to lift her carseat, haha.

He’s still healthy, but small. He’ll probably have to get his adenoids out in the next year or two, if he doesn’t grow into them. He eats most anything we give him, and can now drink out of a cup! However, once he’s had enough to drink, he’ll start to pour out the water that’s left and play in it so we have to limit his cup drinking. Oh, and for posterity’s sake, he’s wearing size 4 diapers, still fits in his 18 months shirts and pants, but will start wearing 2T shirts pretty soon (2T pants are still a long ways off, though – he’s got my short legs!). We’ve started to have him kneel down and help say prayers at bedtime and it is the cutest thing ever to see him kneeling beside his toddler bed. I mean, really.

Basically, we just love him, and couldn’t ask for a better kid.

ELIZA

Eliza 5 Months

26 inches (87th %tile)
13 pounds, 14 ounces (27th %tile)

This little lady is tall and skinny, and is so far on track to be taller than her brother, haha. She’s thriving on formula, and doesn’t spit up as much as her brother did. Her nicknames are Ellie, Ella, Elle, Ellie-Bellie, Ella-Bella, Lizzie-Whizzie (Kyle), Lyzi (Lie-Z), and Liza. I’m pretty positive she’s starting to get two molar (weird, right?) and is so drooly!

She’s on the tail-end of 0-3 month clothes, and so we’ve started to pull out the 3-6 month. She wears size 2 diapers, and drinks 4 ounces every 2-3 hours during the day. She’s taking 3-4 naps a day, and we’re still working on sleeping through the night. On her best nights she gets up once around 4. However, on the day I’m writing this, she was up 3 times in the night sooooo, yeah. Abe was sleeping through the night at like 2 months old, so this is just a bit different for us, haha. She’s grown out of her fussy newborn stage now, and is so smiley! We get comments on it all the time. (In comparison, Abe was so smiley – at home – but when we would go out in public he’d just give everyone blank stares. Eliza just smiles all the time, at home or in public.) She also has the sweetest giggle. She is such a wonderful addition to our family — we love having two kids!
