2016 In Review

2016 In Review

I hope you’ll indulge me in a little look back on my 2016. It’s always fun to look back and see what you accomplished and where you traveled during the year. If seems crazy to me that 2016 is over. And it’s crazier that we survived more than a year of having two kids 😉 I’ve definitely done some growing this year (posts to come soon) and I’m looking forward to 2017. But first, here it is, my 2016 in review. (2014’s is here and 2015’s is here, in case you’re interested.)

January

I shared my word of the year (Show Up), as well as a little about the decision I made to not breastfeed Eliza. I also signed up for my first triathlon.

February

Kyle and I celebrated Valentine’s Day together, and we switched Abe to a toddler bed and Eliza to the crib! I wrote about the differences between c-section and vaginal deliveries, as well as my switch from Blogger to WordPress. I also wrote about a favorite book, how to save money, how social media affects me, and shared a few marriage tips, as well. We also spent a really fun weekend in Utah.

March

We celebrated Abe’s 2nd birthday and Kyle’s 30th! I read another great book, and posted a little update on the state of the blog.

April

April wasn’t too eventful, but I did write about transitioning to two kids, and shared a little bit about child abuse awareness month. I also traveled down to Utah with the kids by myself to go to a craft fair with two of my sisters-in-law and meet up with my college BFF Sarah.

May

We celebrate our 6th anniversary, I also wrote a little bit about my biggest insecurity, and shared some things to do as a family. We also laid sod in our backyard, hooray! I also was able to go to lunch with a few of my best friends, that I don’t get to see very often. (#survivorsforever)

June

My Little Sunshines turned 2! We celebrated Kyle on Father’s Day. I celebrated my friend Emma and her new babe at her baby shower, and I also got a terrible, horrible eye infection.

July

We spent a week at Lake Tahoe with Kyle’s family, and had a great time! My dad and Steven came to visit, and I also went to Girl’s Camp with the teenage girls I mentor through my church. I also signed up as a consultant for Usborne Books which has been…. interesting, to say the least. I also shared a little bit about how I am feeling in my current season.

August

I participated in my first triathlon and I loved it! I turned 27 and shared a 30 by 30 list with you. I also shared a personal favorite post of mine (Where I’m Needed). Oh yes, and I got my wisdom teeth out.

September

I participated in Blog-tember 2016 (see all my posts here), and had a great time doing so. I collaborated with an amazing company to raise awareness of sexual abuse. September was altogether a crazy month as far as the blog was concerned! Other than that, we did have a fun time going to the Fair on Labor Day, and spending a weekend going camping with Kyle’s parents (see our family catch up post!).

October

In October we celebrated fall by doing all manner of fall things. My mom and sister came to visit one weekend and we went to the pumpkin patch and the zoo. My best friend took me on an overnight girl’s night and saved my sanity 🙂 (See Five On Friday post here for all of the above.)

November

Our little lady turned ONE (how?!). I shared an update on her and one on Abe. We took Abe to his first football game (BYU, of course!) and celebrated Thanksgiving with our family. I also shared a little bit about what’s been on my heart.

December

We celebrated Christmas with our family, and had a fun December.

I thought about adding in a few favorite blog posts of mine from the year, or even creating a new post solely for that purpose, but I thought that might be a little redundant. If I linked a post above, it probably means I like it, and I’d love it if you’d click through to the ones you find interesting.

I’m so grateful for this little space of mine. It allows me to record my family’s happenings, and write what’s on my heart. I’m also so thankful for you, my readers and friends. The blogging community is really the greatest, and I love being involved in it 🙂
